A New Year's parade is held on the streets of London each year on - you've guessed it - New Year's Day! Officially named the London Parade, each year the event brings together performers from all over the world (these days about 10,000 people take part, many of them from schools in the U.S.) and also draws plenty of crowds.

Below are some photos from this year's parade, which is in fact its 25th anniversary event. These photos were taken on Piccadilly, between Green Park and Piccadilly Circus. Thank you very much to my intrepid photographer!
